On January 16, 2024, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul released School Aid projections for the 2024-25 school year following her Executive Budget presentation. As it stands, the proposal allocates the Brunswick Central School District $122,342 LESS than it received last year.
Since then, we have been advocating for more funding for our school community. Senator Jake Ashby’s office has spoken at the Capitol and has visited local school districts. Additionally, members from the Brunswick CSD Board of Education will be lobbying our elected officials and encourage the Brunswick CSD community to reach out to have their voices heard.
"Proper, fair, and adequate school funding is not just an investment in our schools; it's an investment in the limitless potential of every Tamarac student. I implore the NYS governmental leaders to understand that we heavily rely on foundation aid to provide a well-rounded academic program to set our students up to be career and college-ready. This loss of foundation aid at a time of increasing expenses will have a significant and detrimental impact on our program. By ensuring equitable resources to our schools, we can support our educators to nurture minds, foster creativity, and prepare our students for a future world full of endless possibilities", said Dr. Angelina Maloney, Brunswick Central School District Superintendent.
