To the families of Tamarac Elementary School,

I hope this email finds you well and probably helping your child with remote instruction - my youngest is in quarantine this week and I've been working with her during her remote instruction. This is giving me a sense of how challenging this can be, yet also informative. Spending time in your child's classroom does give you insight into your child and their peers. I've learned that my daughter is super chatty at home, but very quiet when in her class, and especially when she is remote.

The past two weeks have been an unusual run up to our holiday recess. I did miss the positive energy in the school that leads up to a holiday recess, but being remote these last three days was a prudent move, and was based on what is in the best health and safety interest of our children. Today's half-day of instruction is a nice sendoff into a recess that I feel we all really need. Hopefully, the choices that have been made will set us up for a safe in-person return to instruction on January 4th, and that 2021 will be kinder to us than this past year has been.

To our entire Brunswick/Brittonkill school community, I wish you a happy, healthy holiday recess. Treasure your time with one another, be kind and be safe. See you next year!
(That never gets old!)

Happy Holidays,
Rich Pogue
