Brunswick CSD Cafeteria Spotlight 2021
We are so fortunate to have 2 fantastic cooks at Brunswick Central School District. Stacy Meres runs the Elementary kitchen & Carrie Brundige oversees the MS/HS kitchen. This pandemic school year has been full of challenges for all school cafeterias. Fortunately, we have staff that have risen to the challenges.
At the elementary Stacy Meres & the cafeteria staff have worked tirelessly to provide portable serving lines and enhanced sanitation levels, while serving more students than ever, since all students eat for free this COVID year. Both Stacy & Carrie have increased our staff lunch sales significantly this year. Stacy, aka "Soup Queen": given by her customers, has created specialties like Cream of Buffalo Chicken Soup, Fresh Potato & Bacon Chowder and Pesto Chicken Salad Wraps. Both cooks take great pride in their work and go over & above to accommodate both our students and our staff. They have embraced their culinary online educational training with enthusiasm. As well, our cafeteria has moved into the 21st century with both cooks capable of receiving staff orders through email or our new online ordering app. We are grateful to have brand new kitchens and our cafeteria computer system has been updated this year also.
Our middle/high school cook Carrie Brundige has fine tuned our process for providing all remote meal preparations weekly along with our hardworking MS/HS cafeteria staff.
Like Stacy, Carrie takes great pride in her culinary creations, she too has increased staff meals significantly this year. Along with leading our staff skillfully & efficiently even with the complex hybrid meal schedule & COVID challenges. Carrie also kindly works regularly with a few of our special education students on basic food service skills toward their personal career goals.
Both Stacy & Carrie are smart, creative & extremely efficient but most importantly they truly care about our students. They put great pride & energy into providing the best in customer service and food quality for our students and the school community, no matter how great the COVID challenges have been this school year. BCSD is well-off to have these valuable ladies in our school kitchens.
