The Office of Congressman Antonio Delgado is pleased to announce the launch of a new summer reading program entitled Antonio’s Summer Superstars.
Antonio’s Summer Superstars is an exciting new program for elementary students in New York’s 19th Congressional District for the 2021 summer intended to develop family ties and reading skills, both of which are essential for a successful future. During this summertime program, children, with the help of their families, are challenged to read 20 books of their own choosing. Families will log the completed books and return the completion list to their child’s teacher, or directly to Congressman Delgado’s office.
In addition, we will also be holding a bookmark art challenge for participating students. The submitted bookmark images will be honored and celebrated in an online gallery for the public to appreciate each participant’s artwork. These bookmarks should display a picture depicting the importance of reading from a young person's perspective.
A recognition ceremony for participants in the highest performing will be held in the fall, at which time certificates will be distributed to those children who read 20 books. This event will be hosted by Congressman Delgado.
