To the families of Tamarac Elementary School,

I hope this update finds you well and ready for the holidays (as ready as one can be!)  We'll finish up next week with a half-day on Thursday, December 23rd.  We will begin dismissal on this day at 11:25am, with buses rolling out of here by 11:40am. Please mark your calendars.

Our Elementary Chorus and Band Concert is on for Tuesday, December 21st at 7pm in the District Auditorium - students in band and chorus may be dropped off beginning at 6:30 pm and then report to their assigned rooms or spaces.  Remember, masks are required for all attendees once they enter the Secondary School.  We are all looking forward to hearing our students perform - it's been too long since we have had a chance to hear them sing and play.

And, keeping with a music theme, the elementary school will have their 2021 Holiday Sing Along on Wednesday morning, December 22nd.  We can't have the whole building together at one time, so the Sing Along will take place in three sessions; pre-K, kindergarten and 3rd grade will be in Session 1, 2nd grade and 5th grade will be in Session 2 and 1st and 4th grades will be in Session 3.  All the Sing Alongs will take place in the District Auditorium with assigned seating and appropriate spacing for all students.  All Sing Alongs will be done before lunch.

Our Hat and Mitten Tree in the Main Lobby is loaded with donations for those in our community - the generosity of the students and their families continually impresses me.  Speaking of clothing, we have many items, such as coats, hats, gloves/mittens, sweatshirts and lunchboxes, that have been lost or left behind by students, and have now overwhelmed our Lost and Found box. We would love to get these items back to their homes, so we have arranged many of these found items on tables near the cafeteria.  If your child is missing something, let their teacher know and they will be able to search for their items.

Finally, for the parents of 3rd graders, Mrs. Onorato and I have sent a letter to households with a concern that is pretty specific to this grade level.  We share our concern in the hopes that you will help us address this concern with your child, and make our classrooms a better, safer space for all.

We wish you all the happiest of holidays and a joyous New Year!
