Six 5th grade students were recognized on May 8th for the 37th Annual Sandra G. Morley Physical Education Student Leadership Award. The program took place at Hudson Valley Community College and was put on by the Capital Zone chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYSAHPERD). Hundreds of students were chosen from over thirty school districts and twelve counties were recognized. Physical Education teachers Dan Pryde and Erick Roadcap selected students Aubrey LeMay, Adeline Haskins, Charlotte Hoffman, Braedan Morrissey, Mason Morrissey, and Kais Horton as the honorees. These students have demonstrated responsible personal and social behavior, sportsmanship, and citizenship, and a desire to learn and improve. They also have exhibited a physically active lifestyle, demonstrated leadership and have been a positive influence on peers, while contributing toward the total school program. Congratulations to all students!

Over the weekend, Emilee Roadcap, a Tamarac sophomore and member of the Trailblazers 4h horse club, participated in the 4h Horse Communications contest at Cornell University in Ithaca, placing 2nd in the state in the Seniors division (14-18 year olds). Horse Communications is an individual contest, where contestants present on a horse related topic for 9-12 minutes. To get to the state level, Emilee had to place in the top 3 at both the county and regional levels. As a second place winner, she is the alternate to represent New York State at the national competition in Kentucky in November. Congratulations, Emilee!
