To the families of Tamarac Elementary School,

I hope this email finds you well and installing any air conditioners you have for the upcoming weekend. The calendar is going through some updates, so I would like to focus on calendar issues in today's update.  The first important item is the Budget Vote, which is Tuesday, May 17th from 8am to 8 pm in the Multipurpose Gymnasium of the Secondary School.  In addition to the budget vote itself, there are four people running for three open Board of Education seats as well. There are many events taking place around the campus on this day, including the district Art show (from 5pm to 8 pm) and the unveiling of the PTSA Book Vending machine in the Elementary School cafeteria, which is scheduled for 5:30pm that evening.

The district calendar has had two recent revisions - our Memorial Day recess will now be from Friday, May 27th until Tuesday, May 31st; classes will resume for everyone on Wednesday, June 1st.  Once we resume classes, we will be racing to the end of the school year, so here are some of our final dates of attendance.

First, the last day of attendance for all pre-K students will be Friday, June 10th.  The Moving Up ceremony will be that morning and all pre-K students will be dismissed with their parents/families once the Moving Up ceremony is complete.  More details will follow about this day from the pre-K teachers.  All Moving Up ceremonies are scheduled to take place on the football field, with students seated on the track and parents in the bleachers.  Ceremonies will be hastily moved into the elementary school gyms if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Kindergarten will have their Moving Up ceremony on Thursday, June 16th - this will also be the final day for attendance.  Kindergarten students will also leave after their Moving Up ceremony with their parents/families.  More information on this day will also follow from the kindergarten teachers.

The 5th grade Moving Up ceremony will be on Friday, June 17th - this is a half-day for all students. As with the other ceremonies, 5th grade students will leave with parents/families after the ceremony, even if it is not time for everyone else to dismiss.  5th graders will return for instruction the next week, and all remaining 1st through 5th grade students will attend school until Thursday, June 23rd.  This is a half-day of attendance and also the final day of school for these students.

Monday, June 20th will be the observed day for Juneteenth this year, and there will be no school on this day.

Please come out to the Budget Vote on Tuesday, May 17th.

Sincerely, Kelly Onorato and Rich Pogue
