Dear Secondary School Families:
Happy Friday (the 13th) - I am not superstitious but we certainly don’t need anything else working against us in 2020! I hope everyone was able to take some time to honor our military heroes on Veterans Day. With quarter 2 underway, we are back in a good groove in both the middle school and high school. Students and staff are having a little fun with spirit theme days - check out some of the photos below from Tacky Tourist Day yesterday! The Blue Cohort did an incredible job! On the academic side of things, the parent portal is now open to view first quarter grades. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to teachers, counselors and/or administration if your child is struggling. Our goal is to work in partnership to ensure your child has a very successful school year! Here are a few other important updates for the week ahead:
National Jr. Honor Society: Our annual NJHS induction ceremony will be held on Monday, November 23 at 9:00 a.m. Please mark your calendar! Unfortunately, visitors are still not permitted in the building, but our revised program will be offered live in a virtual format. It will also be recorded for our community to view at your leisure. We are very excited to induct twenty-two new 8th graders from the class of 2025! Assisting us will be NJHS members from the class of 2024! The ceremony will be followed by a reception for the honorees hosted by the Brunswick/Brittonkill PTSA. A link will be provided to the community in next week's update.
Food Drive: The Secondary and Elementary buildings are still collecting items for our annual Thanksgiving food drive. Thank you to everyone who has graciously sent in items already! We are still accepting donations through next week - please consider donating to this great cause!
Spirit Week!!! Today is Bengal Spirit Day for our middle school students. The schedule for the remaining spirit days next week are as follows:
Monday, November 16: Sports Day - Wear your favorite jersey (WHITE COHORT)
Tuesday, November 17: Decades Day - 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s (BLUE COHORT)
Wednesday, November 18: Superhero Day - Dress as your favorite superhero (RED COHORT)
Thursday, November 19: Patriotic Day - Wear Red, White, and/or Blue (WHITE COHORT)
Friday, November 20: Twin Day (BLUE COHORT)
Health/Wellness: **IMPORTANT** Please be sure to complete the daily screening survey before sending your child to school each morning. Your child should be kept home if they are experiencing any symptoms consistent with COVID. If your child’s symptoms are improving AND they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medicine, they may return to school with a note from their doctor with an alternate diagnosis clearing them to return to school OR a copy of their negative COVID test result. We appreciate your help in keeping our school safe for everyone!
